Jeff McIlwain’s music has been providing a buoyant soundtrack for my life (and long runs!) for a number of years now. In my excitement about his latest release as Lusine, I reached out to his label, Ghostly International, to set up an interview and they kindly obliged. Jeff and I chat here about the path that led him to success as an electronic musician, his fondness for manipulating vocal tracks, and his latest album, Sensorimotor.
I started out the show with a bunch of updates about what I am up to in the coming months. I love a bulleted list:
* The second annual MikeyPod Live! podcast will be on June 28th in NYC. More details TBA
* I’ll be presenting with Eban Crawford at Moogfest 2017 in Durham, NC. May 18-21
* The Animal Show Summer Tour kicks off in Houston, TX on July 8th.
* I’m a featured guest on today’s episode of the Powerpress Podcast.
Thanks for checking out the podcast! I have some great guests on deck for future episodes including musician Walker Lukens and performance artist Adrienne Truscott, so please subscribe in iTunes or your podcatcher of choice. Use the buttons in the right sidebar for easy links to my show’s listing in any directory you desire.
Music:
Witness (feat. Benoît Pioulard) – Lusine
Two Dots – Lusine
Just A Cloud (feat. Vilja Larjosto) – Lusine
Visit Jeff’s website and follow him on Facebook and Soundcloud. Please support the artist by purchasing Lusine’s Sensorimotor at The Ghostly Store or the retailer of your choice.
Special thanks to Matthew Gawrych at Ghostly International for arranging this interview.
See you next week!

Lisa Ebersole is the writer, director and star of 37 Problems, a raunchy new comedy series about fertility and growing up. Ebersole plays a struggling 37 year-old screenwriter who finds out she has one egg left. Suddenly she has to get a guy to fertilize the egg, freeze the egg, or do nothing and live a different life than she imagined. The series is smart, raunchy, and moving — three of my favorite things! You can watch the whole thing in one evening and I highly recommend you check it out!
Lisa Ebersole’s plays have been produced Off-Broadway and regionally. They include: BABY (Best of The Fringe Festival) MOTHER (starring Buck Henry and Holland Taylor) BROTHER (published by Samuel French) PEOPLE DIE THAT WAY (Editor’s Choice Time Out New York & Backstage.) Her films include the feature adaptation of BROTHER (Tribeca Cinemas) the short film PUDDIN’ (Palm Springs Film Festival) and the web series 37 PROBLEMS (Austin Film Festival, Brooklyn Web Fest, Hollyweb Festival.)
Visit the 37 Problems website, and follow the series on Vimeo, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
You can also listen to this podcast on soundcloud or mixcloud if you’re into that sort of thing.

Where Is Thunder Road? – Walker Lukens
